🍪 Cherry Snowball Cookies
Soft, buttery cookies with a sweet cherry center, rolled in powdered sugar.
🛒 Ingredients
1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup powdered sugar (plus extra for coating)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup chopped maraschino cherries (well drained)
2–3 tbsp cherry jam or preserves (for filling)
🥣 Instructions
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream butter & sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and mix well.
Add dry ingredients (flour and salt) and mix until a soft dough forms.
Fold in cherries gently.
Shape cookies:
Take 1 tablespoon of dough, flatten slightly.
Add a small amount of cherry jam in the center.
Close and roll into a smooth ball.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, until bottoms are lightly golden.
Cool slightly, then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar.
Let cool completely and roll again in powdered sugar for a snowy finish ❄️
✨ Tips
Drain cherries very well to avoid soggy dough
Can be filled with raspberry or strawberry jam
Store in an airtight container up to 5 days
