Melted Snowman Sugar Cookies

These soft sugar cookies are topped with creamy white icing and decorated to look like melted snowmen. Kids and adults love them!


Ingredients

For the Cookies

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

For the Frosting

2 cups powdered sugar

2–3 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1–2 tablespoons corn syrup (optional, for shine)

For Decorating

Mini chocolate chips or black sprinkles (eyes + buttons)

Orange sprinkles or orange candy pieces (nose)

Holiday sprinkles (scarves/buttons)


Instructions

  1. Make the Cookies
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix well.
  6. Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  7. Scoop dough into balls (about 1 tablespoon), place on baking sheet, and lightly flatten with your hand.
  8. Bake 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but the centers stay soft.
  9. Let cookies cool completely.

  1. Make the Frosting
  2. Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons milk.
  3. Add more milk as needed until the frosting is thick but pourable.
  4. Add corn syrup for extra shine (optional).

  1. Decorate the Snowmen
  2. Spoon a small amount of frosting on top of each cookie, letting it drip slightly to resemble a “melted” look.
  3. Add black sprinkles or mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons.
  4. Add an orange sprinkle for the nose.
  5. Decorate around the bottom with Christmas sprinkles to look like scarves.

  1. Set & Store

Let cookies dry for 1–2 hours until frosting sets.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
