🐟 How to Make Salmon Cakes (Salmon Patties)
Crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside — perfect for a fast dinner or lunch.
🛒 Ingredients
2 cans (14.75 oz each) salmon, drained and flaked
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 large eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Optional (but recommended):
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp paprika or Old Bay seasoning
1 tbsp lemon juice
Chopped parsley or dill
Oil for frying
👩🍳 Instructions
Prepare the salmon
Drain the salmon well. Remove skin and large bones if desired, then flake into a bowl.
Mix the patties
Add breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, and mayonnaise.
Season with salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Mix gently until combined.
Shape
Form the mixture into patties (about 2–3 inches wide).
Lightly coat each patty with extra breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
Cook
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry patties for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
Drain & serve
Place on paper towels to remove excess oil.

💡 Tips
If the mixture feels too wet, add a bit more breadcrumbs.
If too dry, add 1 more tablespoon mayonnaise or a splash of milk.
Can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping once.
