Melted Snowman Sugar Cookies
These soft sugar cookies are topped with creamy white icing and decorated to look like melted snowmen. Kids and adults love them!
Ingredients
For the Cookies
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
For the Frosting
2 cups powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1–2 tablespoons corn syrup (optional, for shine)
For Decorating
Mini chocolate chips or black sprinkles (eyes + buttons)
Orange sprinkles or orange candy pieces (nose)
Holiday sprinkles (scarves/buttons)
Instructions
- Make the Cookies
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix well.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop dough into balls (about 1 tablespoon), place on baking sheet, and lightly flatten with your hand.
- Bake 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but the centers stay soft.
- Let cookies cool completely.
- Make the Frosting
- Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons milk.
- Add more milk as needed until the frosting is thick but pourable.
- Add corn syrup for extra shine (optional).
- Decorate the Snowmen
- Spoon a small amount of frosting on top of each cookie, letting it drip slightly to resemble a “melted” look.
- Add black sprinkles or mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons.
- Add an orange sprinkle for the nose.
- Decorate around the bottom with Christmas sprinkles to look like scarves.
- Set & Store
Let cookies dry for 1–2 hours until frosting sets.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
