Hot Fudge Pie
A classic Southern-style fudgy pie with a crackly top and molten chocolate center. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream!
Ingredients
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
(Optional)
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1/4 cup chocolate chips for extra fudginess
Instructions
- Prep the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9-inch pie dish or spray with baking spray.
- Make the batter
- In a medium bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix gently until combined — don’t overmix.
- Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
The batter will be thick, like brownie batter.
- Bake
Spread the batter into the pie dish.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top forms a crackly crust but the center is still soft and fudgy.
Do not overbake — it should jiggle slightly when you shake it.
- Serve
Let cool 10 minutes, then slice while warm.
Best served with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of hot fudge.
Tips
For a gooier center: bake closer to 25 minutes.
For a firmer brownie-like texture: bake up to 32 minutes.
This pie reheats beautifully — microwave slices for 10–15 seconds.
