Foolproof Homemade Pizza Dough (For 2 Medium Pizzas)

Soft, stretchy, easy to work with, and perfect for any toppings!


Ingredients (for 2 medium pizzas)

2½ cups bread flour (320g)

1⅓ cups cake flour (160g)

1½ teaspoons salt

1 tablespoon sugar

2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1⅓ cups warm water (315 ml, about 45°C / 110°F)

2 tablespoons olive oil


Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast
  2. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast.
  3. Stir gently and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

(If it doesn’t foam, the yeast is inactive—start again.)


  1. Make the Dough
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together bread flour, cake flour, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
  4. Mix with a spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  1. First Rise
  2. Shape the dough into a ball and place in a lightly oiled bowl.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel.
  4. Let rise for 1 to 1½ hours, or until doubled in size.

  1. Divide & Shape
  2. Punch down the dough gently to release air.
  3. Divide into 2 equal balls.
  4. Cover and rest for 10 minutes (helps the dough relax).
  5. Stretch each dough ball into a 10–12 inch pizza crust.

Use your hands, not a rolling pin, to keep it airy.


  1. Assemble

Add your favorite toppings:

Pizza sauce

Mozzarella

Pepperoni

Veggies

Fresh basil

Anything you love!


  1. Bake
  2. Preheat your oven to 250°C (475°F) or as hot as possible.
  3. Heat a pizza stone or baking tray inside.
  4. Bake each pizza for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  1. Serve
