Oven-Baked Baby Back Ribs
Ingredients
1 rack baby back ribs (3–3½ pounds)
1 bottle your favorite barbecue sauce
Dry Spice Rub
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
½ tsp chili powder or cayenne (optional)
Instructions
Prep the ribs
Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F).
Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for maximum tenderness.
Season
Mix all spice rub ingredients in a bowl.
Rub generously over both sides of the ribs.
Wrap & bake (low and slow)
Place ribs meat-side down on heavy-duty foil.
Wrap tightly to seal in moisture.
Bake for 2½–3 hours, until ribs are tender.
Sauce & caramelize
Carefully unwrap ribs and place them meat-side up on a baking tray.
Brush generously with barbecue sauce.
Finish
Increase oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) or switch to broil.
Bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes, until sauce is sticky and caramelized (watch closely).
Rest & serve
Let ribs rest 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
Tips & Variations
🍯 Add 1–2 tbsp honey to the BBQ sauce for extra glaze
🌶️ Mix chili flakes into the rub for heat
🧄 Add a little mustard before the rub for deeper flavor
🥔 Serve with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or corn on the cob
