🍞 Whole Wheat Bread (Soft & Homemade)
🛒 Ingredients
1 cup (230 ml) warm water
Fresh yeast: ¾ tsp (3 g) or Dry yeast: ½ tsp (2 g)
1 tsp sugar (optional, helps yeast activate)
1 ½ cups (220 g) bread flour
¾ cup (100 g) whole wheat flour
1 tsp salt
🥣 Instructions
1️⃣ Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar (if using).
Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ Mix the dough
Add bread flour and whole wheat flour.
Mix until a rough dough forms, then add salt.
3️⃣ Knead
Knead for 8–10 minutes by hand (or 6 minutes with a mixer)
until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
👉 If sticky, add a little flour (1 tbsp at a time).
4️⃣ First rise
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise
1–1½ hours, until doubled in size.
5️⃣ Shape
Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf or round,
and place in a greased loaf pan or on a baking tray.
6️⃣ Second rise
Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
7️⃣ Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes,
until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
8️⃣ Cool
Remove from pan and cool on a rack before slicing.
💡 Tips
For softer bread, brush the top with butter after baking.
For more flavor, let the dough rise slowly in the fridge overnight.
You can add seeds (sunflower, sesame) on top before baking.
